my hair is a completely different texture every year. ive heard that what you eat affects (effects?) the texture of your hair (among other things, obviously) so i wonder if maybe my diet/stress levels fluctuate/change completely every year, or if it is just a weird part of my "aging process". i feel like my hair is now as wry as my attitude can be, but then again sometimes it can be soft like my skin, and i maybe i am a soft hearted person as well

the weather probably is a contributing factor too.

my brother's girlfriend caught us a fish. she always brings things for us and makes me things/gives me gifts. those delicious chinese baked goods. cloud like. while on the phone i unwrapped it and looked at it. it's really pretty, i'm not sure what kind of fish it is but damn. it's not that big, maybe a foot long and not spectacularly colorful, but it shimmers and it still has eyes. fish are beautiful. i'm not a big fan of fishing, but i think it's romanticized a lot in so many different mediums, which attracts me to it more. i don't know how to feel about this.

"capacity to wonder"

05 June 2011

straight down to the fog

1: i dont know what it means to not want to go to sleep any more. for two years i didn't want to go to sleep. i feel like i was more emotional during those two years and this past year i havent been as emotional. i hung out with corinne and she talked about how nothing of great consequence happened to her this year and that that made her sad and she hopes the summer and next year is better. i thought about what she said and thought, things of consequence have happened to me this year. but at the same time i felt like a small loose thread in the wake of a really big blanket. i felt like a part of something this year but at the same time i felt very detached from a lot of people and things, especially for the last few months. different from last year where the person i was most detached from was me. welcome back to yourself

i get a lot of courage from other people with courage. "wondering how you are"

thinking about what might happen is tricky business. on the one hand your mind might wrap and wrap in prickly rawness like twine tight about a skinned finger but on the other, wondering can be a really good time. being surprised is a good time. i remember hating surprises. when people display caring or affection or kindness to me, especially people i wouldnt expect it from or from someone i havent spoken to in a long time, it's almost a guaruntee that i'll start crying. i remember too much. six times in the last sixteen days

"it'll be spring soon"

t-h-i-c-k-e-t

certain impulses are good comfortable impulses that don't have a name. i'm hot and tired so i took my shirt off to make myself feel better. good impulse.

i wanted cherries all day and when i got home at eight thirty i ate half a pound of them. there were more bugs on and around me today than have been since i don't know when. i wonder why anyone does the things that they do that don't match up with how they feel. i feel like usually it's weakness or laziness. pigerrimus-a-um. i wish i knew or i could understand, but so few people like to explain their thoughts or feelings about certain subjects, which confuses me since human beings are naturally selfish, which isn't always necessarily a bad thing at all. i hate being sensitive because sometimes it feels like everyone around me is ten times less sensitive and if i get upset about something it makes me feel bad about being upset about something that "society" is telling me i shouldnt feel bad about. certain people always want explanations and in turn i get upset if i can't explain myself. it's a bad feeling when someone makes you feel bad about what you have to say. over and over and overly sensitive

the other day it was burning devil hot outside and i sat with hummus and chips alone and thought about one of the first times i hung out with matt because he introduced me to hummus. today i hung out with devon and so much about it reminded me of that hummus day. i told devon to walk towards my house and that i would walk toward him and i started late again and he was already almost on my street by the time i started, like matt was more than two years ago. we walked to an open grassy place and sat there. when i first met matt he didn't play little games with me like i feel like he does now, now that i know him less. and when i first met devon i felt like he played more games like that and now it is easy to talk to him.

moving through that space was mesmerizing. there are few places in moorestown that stay hidden from someone who has lived there for a few years at least, much less someone who has lived there her whole life (me). looking into the sun and seeing all those insects and motes of dust floating and running with the wind blew my mind like i was in a dream. i don't think i've ever seen so much dust in so many shafts of light at once in person before and it was like seeing a huge cosmic whirlwind life happening before my eyes, behind devon's beard. not to mention it was a near perfect day weather-wise and there were literally no clouds in the sky all day which also freaked me out like i was in a dream again. or as if, for my whole life, i havent experienced the outside ever. it was a good feeling, but being with devon was also weird because our conversations seemed like there were things that we could have talked about that would have felt better but we didn't.

usually when i stay awake at night i'm thinking or waiting or dwelling on something. i should add dwelling to my hobbies because i dwell all the time, i couldn't even say whether or not i enjoy it, i don't necessarily have to enjoy a habit. i slouch with all the dwell saturated on my vertebrae. each knot in my back has had its own individual reason for having been knotted. i feel so disconnected from each reason i could cry. i remember what it's like to have heavily weighted shoulders. i cried when i heard oliver james for the first time in so long, that was sudden. on the kitchen table that your grandfather did make.

forget

sometimes i'm so thirsty it feels like an age and even when i drink my thirst is not quenched. when i shift or move my covers the scent ppppppppppuffs up. if i'm warm enough and i can smell that smell it is as if he is here.

for such a town that i live in it seems like i know so many interesting people that i met when they were in high school. sometimes i want to cry thinking about certain people. sometimes when i am thinking about everyone i have met i get this lump in my throat and i start shaking my head back and forth like wow, look at them, how did i ever know them? how did i ever stop knowing them? how can i be content not knowing them any more. but the thing i forget is that it isnt my decision not being friends with certain people because you know they kind of have to have a say. so i carry on these false relationships in my mind with them as if i knew them, like oh, if so and so were here they would love this, they would say this, i would do this and they would think this after i did it. sometimes when i think about what i think about i draw a kind of ambiguous morphous conclusion that i am so worthlessly fake for having so many fantasies a day when they could just as easily be real if i tried. and no, it is not because it's cold or gray, or because i don't "feel well", it's because i force myself to sit and do nothing, and i can feel myself forcing that because i sit and want so badly to get up. like i am physically uncomfortable sitting and i can't move a muscle. is it really that hard to walk through the house and ride my bike? to be honest? to mend or make something instead of watching the last half of hbo movies that i have seen repeatedly and don't even like? i don't want to be happy. i always doubt myself

i don't know how this might sound to someone who misunderstands but to me there are certain people where when i have the affirmation that they like me it is an accomplishment. because knowing that certain people who i respect actually like me back is a good feeling. i have such bad paranoia i don't even realize it until i think about things like this. i don't even know if you can call it paranoia but it's certainly convincing myself that people are thinking things or that people know things and that they are thinking them when they are around me and they're compromising me even though they are just sitting there wondering why i am crumpling up like a ball of paper

beautiful plum face

something has been drawing me to watching a movie taking a bath and then laying in my bed until it's time to go to sleep every day when i get home. i wonder if it is because it's been forty degrees for the past two weeks or if i just want to feel worse about how i spend my time. i have been having very sad and haunting dreams lately that are actually fantastic while i am having them but then i wake up and realize they were actually such sad things. i remember exactly the day that i took the picture of those wool blankets because it was right after i turned fifteen and i came home that day and was reading robert frost poems and took a picture of that appreciated blanket. if i opened that little frost book i know i would find pressed pansies from 2009. i feel like a fool

earlier i distractedly lit some incense and while it was burning i eventually couldnt really smell it. i just went downstairs and coming back up in the shorts i'm wearing, into my room with the scent of the incense i used all this past summer made me feel like it was that time again; soon, june.

summer come
